Background

Since 2019, we have been managed the British Council’s Creative DNA programme, spearheading efforts to revolutionize Africa’s fashion sector across four iterations (Creative DNA 1.0 to 4.0). Noteworthy achievements include:

  •  Managing incubation support for 81 early-stage fashion enterprises in Kenya and Ethiopia.
  • Focusing on skill development, networking, and digital learning.
  • Overseeing 30 micro-grants, we facilitated the growth of enterprises, contributing to a sustainable and dynamic fashion ecosystem.

The program’s impact is evident through reaching over 2,500 fashion enthusiasts via public-access Fashion Fridays masterclasses, resulting in positive media coverage exceeding KES 5 Million. The success story unfolds in continuous growth, leveraging past achievements, and culminating in WAUZINE—a collaborative venture showcasing the transformative impact of Kenyan and UK creatives in the fashion industry. Participants have seamlessly integrated into Kenya’s creative economies and networks, playing a pivotal role in the ongoing development of the sector.
