Sherry Davis, a former Community Action Researcher at Horniman, is collaborating with the National Museum of Kenya to tell the stories of unseen and unsung black heritage professionals in Kenya who were not acknowledged for their contributions to history through her project, Ode to the Ancestors. Kenyans made valuable contributions in the archaeological sites, but their names have not been included in the historical books. The Ode to the Ancestors aims to uncover, commemorate, and celebrate the African Kenyan archaeologists whose names are absent from the archaeological sites.
The project is supported by the British Council Cultural Exchange program, which supports cultural organizations, festivals, artists, and creatives between Sub-Saharan African countries and the UK to create art, build networks, collaborate, develop markets, and share artists’ work with audiences
