Digital Loom - British Council's Culture Connects Project

Meet Ireoluwa Soetan, founder of Annaire Arts & Fashion Academy (NG). Through her research project, “Digital Loom,” she explores ways in which traditional weaving craftsmen/centres in Nigeria can collaborate with futuristic designers, digital creators, contemporary designers and design experts to modernize their techniques, making them more attractive to the younger generation while generating wealth. She also looks at the fabrics of Nigeria as a medium for telling the less heard stories of those regions to the UK and other global audiences. She will be highlighting the findings from her research as she interacted with the artists.

The “Digital Loom” project is supported by the British Council Cultural Exchange Program, which supports cultural organizations, festivals, artists, and creatives between Sub-Saharan African countries and the UK to create art, build networks, collaborate, develop markets, and share artists’ work with audiences.
