Dr Christina Thatcher and Godess Bvukutwa led an incredible project that is a celebration of new Welsh and Zimbabwean voices. The project funded by the British Council’s Go Digital Fund, consisting of three inspiring phases:
Phase 1: When Women Write: Empowered women in Wales and Zimbabwe to share their stories through a digital platform. The project included online workshops, discussions, and writing sessions, resulting in a powerful eBook featuring participants’ work.
Phase 2: Where I’m Writing From: Focused on writer development and cultural exchange through the practice of place writing. This phase included enriching online retreats, mentorship, and the publication of selected works in an eBook.
Phase 3: Can You Hear Us?: Provided an exciting opportunity for dedicated Zimbabwean participants to travel to Wales. It involved face-to-face interactions, readings, workshops, and inspiring discussions with influential Welsh literary figures. This phase showcased the success of the previous stages, fostering cultural exchange and empowering participants to make a positive impact in their communities.
